About the Work:

The work consists of a limited edition of Autogestion, or Henri Lefebvre in New Belgrade, an artists’ book by Sabine Bitter & Helmut Weber, and a series of five images that function as interchangeable covers. The artists’ book is based on an unpublished, original text by French philosopher and urbanist Henri Lefebvre which is printed as a facsimile. This central text is contextualized and interpreted by accompanying commentaries by Ljiljana Blagojevic, Zoran Eric, Klaus Ronnberger and Neil Smith. The photo collages for the edition articulate the particular historical and recent situation of New Belgrade and the postulations of Henri Lefebvre’s “Autogestion”.
